New Construction Office Stands In as the Host for the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the “New Construction of Taipei City JianAn Elementary School’s Art Education Complex”
The groundbreaking and blessing ceremony of the “New Construction of Taipei City JianAn Elementary School’s Art Education Complex” was hosted by the New Construction Office of the Taipei City Public Works Department in place of the Department of Education at 9:10 on October 17, 2016 in JianAn Elementary School at No. 99, Section 2, Da’an Road, Da’an District, Taipei City. It was followed by the official commencement of the construction work.
JianAn Elementary School buildings are early architecture. Due to the inadequacy of existing facilities and the desire to develop the School’s unique art education, the City Government especially designed a new complex for art education in the northwestern corner of the School to enhance the students’ learning environment. The new construction will consist of a steel-reinforced concrete structure with five floors above ground and two under, featuring a total floor area of 9,554.03 square meters (around 2,890 ping). The total cost of construction is around 413.74 million NTD. The EDS Group is responsible for planning, design and supervision. The various constructions were contracted via the lowest bid mechanism of heterogeneous procurement: building construction will be handled by the GREAT Professional Construction Group; water and electricity by Zhong Wei Engineering Ltd. ; and air conditioning by Da Jia Enterprises Ltd., with all constructions estimated to be completed by July 9, 2018.
JianAn Elementary is located in the literati-infused Da’an District at the center of Taipei City, and is close to Dunhua South Road, Xinyi Road and the ChengGong Community. Other than providing elementary school students with a learning environment that is convenient to access, the School also serves as a great venue for residents in the surrounding 500 meters, or eight minute walk, for relaxing, exercising, etc.
In this project, there will be a courtyard at the center of the architecture, bringing a playful sense to the space and distinct vertical traffic lines. It will become a place for students to gather and have fun, as well as connecting the various classroom spaces. Light and wind will pass through the courtyard and hallways, letting natural light and air flow to the classrooms, creating a quality learning environment and increasing overall teaching effectiveness.
